Giampaolo Powers Checkmate To First Master's Championship Game


Lake Placid, NY--Gregg Giampaolo's Checkmate has finally reached the pinnacle of Men's Masters Lacrosse...a spot in the Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse Tournament Masters Championship game! They will face fellow Long Island squad Lacrosse Unlimited-Team Long Island. The 4th seeded Checkmate advanced after defeating top seeded Rhode Warriors in convincing fashion 8-4. Giampaolo who wisely picked his spots in the line up, has orchestrated a tremendous run here up in Placid. Checkmate is looking to build on successes garnered during summer league play at the PAL Holtsville Athletic Complex.

  2. Where did Paco play ball? His speed and ability to burn his middie then use the sliding defenseman to screen the goalie while shooting in the quarter final game was very impressive.

  3. Eyewitnesses say Paco dominated througout the entire tournament. We're also told he did have a couple of Gs in the semi final game vs. the RI team.

  4. I know he graduated WI 87. Played at MD freshman year. Declared ineligible as a soph. Ended up at Dowling senior year. Even had a shot with the LI Lizards couple of years ago.
